Is LOTR worth all of the hype?

Yes, it is worth the hype. LOTR is not as condensed as the Hobbit, so it may seem slow at the beginning, but it builds in intensity as the story evolves. Each of three books can stand on their own, but unlike the HP books, each of the LOTR books must be read in succession to truly understand and appreciate the whole story.
