If I want to make an audio copy of some literary works to sell in school, do I need to pay the authors or publ?

I'm trying to make recordings of the readings of Edgar Allan Poe and Guy de Maupassant, between others and selling them to other students and also through the internet as an aide for Literature classes. Any idea if I need to pay any money to anybody if I do so?
