Why do people think being ghetto is cool?

When you use a "D" instead of a "Th" it makes you look and sound retarded. Being in a gang solidifies that you're a retard. I don't understand why people think it's cool. I'm tired of seeing all these wannabe gangsters everywhere. You're not cool. You're just stupid. The majority doesn't seem to agree with me. Well, where I live they agree with me because I'm on an Army post, but everywhere else I go it's all the same. I'm 18 so it's not like I'm some old guy that doesn't understand modern culture. Does anyone else think maybe rap is to blame? I listen to Metal, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Whitechapel, As I lay Dying, etc and I don't think being ghetto is cool. But everyone who does listens to rap. If so, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but at least 90% don't know anything about the hardships or being a "gangster" that they sing about. I was just hoping someone could help me understand why people think it's cool to be ghetto?
